International Conference of Indian Academy of Cerebral Palsy (IACP)

Dear Colleagues

It gives us immense pleasure to invite you with your family on behalf of the founder members and executives of IACP and faculty of neuro and physiotherapy departments of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences for the first International Conference of Indian Academy of Cerebral Palsy (IACP) to be held in Hyderabad, from9th to 12th October 2014 (Thursday to Sunday) and a post conference workshop / course on 13th October (Monday).

You are also invited for the brain storming session to share your innovative work experience to solve problems in case discussion on the management of various kinds of children and adults with cerebral palsy (difficult cases around 12 will be discussed in 2 days) for medical, therapeutic exercises, orthotic and surgical management along with lectures on specified relevant topics by national and international faculty (experts).

There will be total 32 sessions (each of 2 hours in four different halls) in preconference on various aspects of cerebral palsy suited to cerebral palsy experts / students from different fields.

One of the highlight of conference will be solutions to the problems and controversies in cerebral palsy. Each lecture and session will raise the issues and would suggest the remedy.

There is very high incidence of cerebral palsy in India and SAARC countries. But there is hardly any coordinated professional scientific attempt to discuss research and treatment of people with cerebral palsy. Awareness programs and even simple early identification aspects are also lacking. The management of cerebral palsy is multi-disciplinary and requires well-coordinated interaction amongst professionals of various fields of rehabilitation. Therefore a special preconference workshop on the management strategies of different challenging clinical conditions in children and adults with cerebral palsy will be organized for discussion by the experts from different specialties (Therapists, Orthotics and clinical and surgical etc.) for the overall habilitation of them on 9th and 10th October 2014.

The Annual Conference of IACP aims to bring together all specialists involved in the care of children and adults with cerebral palsy on to a single platform, that includes orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, neurologists, paediatricians, therapists, rehabilitation specialists, parent support groups etc., This “Mahayagna” initiated by IACP first in 2006 has been found to be of great importance and is being continued since then.

Renowned experts in the field of cerebral palsy and rehabilitation from India and abroad may participate in the conference. Happy to inform you that stalwarts of this field W.J. Peacock (USA), Steinbok Paul (Canada), Liena (Israel), David Scrutton (Australia), Sarojini Budden (USA), and many others are likely to attend the conference and would disseminate their rich experience to the delegates.
